The Hotel Shimahana is part of a hotel chain based on Awaji Island, consisting of 17 properties that are constantly evolving with the aim of creating the next generation of resorts and inns. Among them, Shimahana stands out for its resort-like atmosphere, distinct from many of the chain’s traditional inn-style locations. Situated on the harborfront in Sumoto City, the hotel offers a view of cruisers lined up in front of the sea, creating an exotic ambiance. The design sought to harmonize with this unique location. It features rounded shapes and wooden elements reminiscent of a ship’s interior, ensuring a balance that appeals to families and doesn’t come across as too sharp or edgy. Attention was given to creating details with softened edges, embodying a common philosophy throughout the design.
