Expressing the Potential of Textiles Through Scale

For more than 150 years, Kaji Textile has specialized in Nishijin weaving, producing traditional textiles for religious use that demand exceptional precision and intricate craftsmanship. This exhibition boldly reinterpreted a single graphic concept inspired by the natural flow of clouds, rain, and water across three distinct applications: a tapestry, sofa upholstery, and an accent rug. The graceful transition from cloud to rain to flowing water was brought to life through sophisticated jacquard weaving techniques, combining meticulously engineered weave structures with a variety of yarns to create remarkable depth, texture, and visual expression. The extraordinary level of craftsmanship and technical complexity can only be fully appreciated in person.
